You're like the sister I never had. I think it's... really incredible that someone like you could put so much effort into a troublesome brat like me. But you are. So I'm gonna make it worth it.

Ino is the first person he's openly admitted to loving outside of his home world. Next to saying goodbye to Tadashi, losing Ino will be the hardest thing for him when he finally goes back to San Fransokyo. She's become so important in his life so quickly that he feels it's been years, not the short months he's been here in the fleet. He's also never been so happy to have someone date his brother.

"But I know a lot of people who have faced a situation like yours before, and they didn't have it in them to pick that third choice. They let that death become a part of them. They let it turn them into something that they never wanted to become. You know better than to let that happen. And I'm so, so proud of what you've become, despite everything."

"What happened shouldn't haunt you or make you feel like a bad person. It should guide you into knowing exactly where your morals lie, and knowing that making the choice to kill him wouldn't have solved anything. I don't think you understand how mature you are for being able to recognize that."

I'm making a difference in the world because of you. You're always gonna be my hero, big brother. If I can be half the guy you were, I'm doing it right.

Hiro's older brother, his hero, his guardian, and hands-down the closest person in the universe to him. He's incredibly protective of him, and he loves him more than he could ever express. Not that he has to; anyone who sees them can see how close the Hamada brothers are. Tadashi is largely responsible for his morals and his work ethic, and his death back home inspired Hiro to become the best version of himself possible. Hiro would do anything for Tadashi, especially now that he has him back in his life.

"I love you too much for anything to get in the way, twerp, even awesome sandwiches. -- see, that's embarrassing."

"Maybe you drive me a little crazy sometimes, but I wouldn't change anything about you. You get that? Nothing."

"Even when I go back, I'm gonna make a difference. I'm gonna make enough of one for both of us..."

I'm really glad you came onto the Bishop. You're really engaging to talk to, and it's good to have some magical healing on board. Sorry I can be kind of a pain in the butt sometimes.

Adra provides a much-needed extra layer of paternal care, on top of being incredibly enriching in conversation. Hiro doesn't get to talk philosophy much, but with Adra it's something he can bring up any time. All in all he's been incredibly influential to Hiro thus far.

You've gotta relax, buddy. It's gonna be okay. You'll find your feet, and you'll feel better about it soon. In the meantime, we can go shopping for books together sometime. And I know you said you don't care about it, but I'm still not gonna tell everybody where your hiding places are. I think it matters.

Despite only knowing each other a short time, Belthazar has quickly risen the ranks of Hiro's friendship. He's hurt, defensive, and frustrated, and that's made him just a little bit of a challenge to Hiro. He thinks Belthazar really just needs a friend, and since they're living together, he's putting himself in that position with enthusiasm. As far as he's concerned, Belthazar has someone he can rely on outside of his world.
Over time, Belthazar and Hiro have become incredibly close. He's pretty much his best friend; the two of them have a habit of getting into trouble on their ship together, either with Hiro's inventions or Belthazar's magic experiments. They fight sometimes, but they always manage to work it out, and Hiro hopes Belthazar will stay with him for a long time yet.

So the training? Pretty much amazing. There's a lot more to you than you give off. I can respect that.

Hiro has come to an understanding that Riku gets him better than he originally thought he would. There's something to all of this training they've been doing, something incredibly personal, and every session they have, Hiro feels like he's channeling another part of him he isn't proud of into something he likes about himself.

"Part of my power comes with being able to feel how people are--to sense them. It's not like I can read your mind or anything... but--you've been though a lot, haven't you? Anything that happened to you--good or bad, you can use it as your armor. Don't be afraid to use the bad things with the good, alright? Yin yang--you can't have a darkness without a light."

You are the definition of a groundbreaking scientist. If you didn't completely change your world back home, whether or not you remember this whole experience, I'd be shocked. I'm really pumped about getting to work with you.

Hiro loves Sokka's sense of humor and his scientific mind, and finds it very easy to be around him. They're good friends, and he can't wait to cause a ruckus with him someday soon.

Alex is quickly becoming more important to Hiro. They hit it off hard in their second conversation, and he already feels like he can trust her. Promising things are on the horizon for these two.

I appreciate your concern for us, even though you kind of screw it up sometimes. You love Ino a lot, and that means I can trust you. Just watch that Crowley guy.

Allen is Ino's best friend and they've known each other for years and years now. Hiro likes him, even though he has trouble convincing himself that trusting him is okay sometimes. He and Crowley are the only ones who have ever even remotely screwed up with him so far. Despite that, he knows Allen will look out for their best interests.

Hiro loves talking to Asteffiel. He's so different and interesting, and Hiro loves that about him. He's a weird plant guy! And he's adorable! And he's learning! Hiro's protective of him, and consistently wondering how he's holding up.

Axel indulges a side of Hiro that he doesn't get to express enough; his 14-year-old-boy-doing-stupid-shit side. It's a childish sense of adventure that fuels both of them, and he can tell that he's become important to Axel. He hopes they can spend a lot more time together; he'd like to know why he inspires him to be so protective.

Hiro wants to get to know Bev better. She knows a lot of things he wants to learn about, and nothing grabs him faster than the promise of knowledge. He'll be working with her in the near future on a medical herb garden.

Hiro has a massive crush on Cass. It's impossible for him t hide. If anyone ever catches them together, he'll be embarrassed for the rest of his life. He's absolutely enraptured by her and someone needs to put him out of his misery.

Hiro kind of feels like he's going to fall face-first into friendship with this kid and he's not sure how to feel about that. It's one thing if he charms someone, but with Steven, he feels like he's not going to have a choice in the matter. Friendship has never quite felt like friendly impending doom before. Hiro was right and Steven needs to be protected at all costs.

Hiro's love for Honey Lemon knows no depths. She's part of his family, his teammate, one of the few people in his life he trusts enough to call his rock. He would do anything she asked, and relies on her heavily, especially at home. She's the ray of sunshine that keeps things positive in his life.

Krista is one of Hiro's favorite people in the Fleet. He's so happy to have such an awesome captain and friend. He's got a little harder protective streak over her than his other friends, probably because she said she was hunted back in her world, and he would sooner eat the cheese from the cheese pillow before he'd let her get hurt.

Hiro didn't talk to Stephanie even after she shuffled onto the Bishop for quite some time, but their very first conversation, she broke through every defense he could have possibly had up and became immediate friends with him. She's the one he cried on when Tadashi showed up. She's the first one he told about the fire. She means so much to him, and her friendship runs deep with him.

Well, now, I would literally be dead if it weren't for you. I want to know what the people who run this place are after, and what they're hiding on the Marsiva. You're the only one I trust to find out with me. We're going to change the landscape of this place, Tim.

Tim was Hiro's very first friend in the Fleet, and the very first person he ever spoke to. They became instantly close, identifying with one another's maturity and level of intellect. Tim's got a lot of experience in codes and robotics, and outsmarts Hiro in ways he's never been outsmarted before. They have a mutual trust and understanding of each other, and Hiro considers him his best friend outside of those he deems family. It won't be long before Tim is there, too.
