[ It'll be a little more difficult for her to judge his reaction, but she also wants him to have enough privacy. She can sympathize with not wanting anyone to see you cry or get upset.
But that reaction to his own brother is very concerning, and unfortunately, very familiar. So, like the nosy big sister she is, she shoots him a text after he's done speaking to Tadashi: ]
Hey. Everything okay?
[ Obviously it's not, but any other opener assumes too much. ]
once i can see him face to face i'm going to tell him everything. that professor callaghan he was talking about almost died. there was a fire and tadashi went in to save him. the building exploded before he could do anything.
that was several months ago for me now. the last thing he remembers is running in.
[ Dying while trying to save someone else. It's not much help to know it when it's a loved one who's died, but it's one of the most honorable ways to die, as a ninja. And praising the dead is a much better sentiment than offering condolences, at least in her opinion. ]
Tadashi sounds like he's quite the hero, himself.
[ But there's something about this Callaghan guy, isn't there? His reaction to the name seemed ... off. Still, she'll wait to see if he continues, first. ]
he is. that's why when i found out that the fire was set on purpose, i teamed up with tadashi's friends from college to track down the person responsible. that turned out to be callaghan. we thought he was dead. turns out he was just trying to steal these microbots i invented to fuel his own revenge plot. tadashi has no idea callaghan isn't who he says he is.
[ Because that she would understand hiding. Although knowing the way Drift Fleet seems to operate, it seems unlikely that fact could stay hidden for long. ]
i really don't know. i need him to know he didn't make it, but the rest is so complicated. our parents died when i was three. if he knows he died, too, he's going to feel guilty. i don't know if i can tell him his mentor blamed him for his own death when tadashi was just trying to save him.
I understand. It's tough when it's someone that close to you.
But it's important to remember that the reason we're here is for entertainment. I'm sure Atroma knows the truth about what happened, and I wouldn't put it past them to reveal it if they thought it would cause drama -- or, even worse, bring this Callaghan guy here, too. Just keep that in mind.
It'll be a lot for Tadashi to take in, but he's got you. I'm sure he'll be alright.
[ Hiro, you sound a little like a bitty Sasuke. :( ]
People like that will justify the means if it means they got what they wanted at the end. Especially if what they've done has been conveniently corrected for them. I've met and fought far too many people who've killed the people I love that acted like that to say otherwise.
Either way, whatever you decide to tell him -- your secret is safe with me.
yeah... i understand why he did the things he did and i know tadashi just got caught in the crossfire. callaghan was a mentor to all of his students. he just lost sight of what was right for a while. i think i'll hold off on telling him unless he guesses something.
yeah. the way it goes here, you start going to school at 5 and you're there until you're 17. then you graduate and you can either start working or go to college/university. i graduated when i was 13.
[ Oh, right. She thinks she heard something along those lines before. School sure is confusing in other places! ]
Ours is a little different. We start at 5, too, but you can test out of the Academy at pretty much any time. Most people are done by 12 or 13. By then you're a genin -- an official ninja -- and you can start working your way up the ranks by taking missions.
