[ yes, hiro, you were right: he has it bad. ]

... Yeah. You should. If she finds out down the road, she'll be angry at all three of you.

[ishere]

Ugh. Who said that it was your turn to be the wise one? What happened to my bratty, hard-headed baby brother?

I'm not the one getting kidnapped and falling all over himself. When I start getting arrested again, you can take over.

[ishere]

[ .... hahaha that gentle hand resting on hiro's head is going to give his hair a solid tug now. ]

You make it sound like it's something that's happened to just you and not the both of us.

[ which is to say: yep he is suspicious as fuck now. ]

And the right answer there would've been "no, Tadashi, I've never been arrested here," not that really awful attempt at a deflection.

[ but he lets him go and sighs, leaning back in his seat. ]

I take back everything I said about you not being bratty and hard-headed.

[ he sits in silence for a moment before letting this drop casually: ]

I'm just saying, it's gonna be hard to get people to take you seriously as a superhero if you spend too much time in the slammer.

[the ship docks, and hiro just kind of... looks over at tadashi. he doesn't say anything just yet; his reaction might be a little subdued if tadashi is paying attention to that. he knows tadashi knows. any fear on his face isn't from being found out. it's from what might happen otherwise.]

[ishere]

[ yeah, he can definitely tell that hiro's a little subdued there, but he's going to try to push past it. it's okay, little brother: maybe it wasn't when he first heard about it, but it is now, and that's exactly why he waited to mention it. ]

You seriously need to work on that competitive streak you have going with me, you know. I like robotics, suddenly you're a robotics prodigy. I build a nurse bot to help people, you decide to be a superhero... I'm gonna get a complex, squirt.

[everydayhero]

It's not like I set out to just...

[he almost sounds defensive, but it's not quite that. there's conflict in his voice.]

... I just thought it was time for me to use that big brain of mine for something good.

[he gives a little half-smile.]

Hey. There's nothing wrong with thinking big.

[ he reaches to squeeze his shoulder, because he's trying his best to be as reassuring as he can be. ]

... you don't have to apologize to me for being a hero.

... [he's never felt pride so guilty before.]

I don't want to apologize for what I do. Hiding it, maybe... but I'm helping people.

[ishere]

You are. I guess you're a pretty okay kid.

[ he rubs at his wrists again, stretching as they dock. ]

Think I'm gonna talk to Ino.

[everydayhero]

Good. You need to.

[anything to get the attention off of my life at home and things i'm not telling you.]

[ishere]

Do me a favor and don't bring, uh- all of this up to anyone, alright? Let me salvage a little of my pride.

[everydayhero]

... You mean I'm not allowed to chew Allen out?

[ishere]

I'd like to avoid further kidnapping incidents, so, yeah.

[ let's ignore the fact that he straight up accused allen of kidnapping him to get to hiro... lmf.. ]

[can you feel the heat on this look because you might want to get hiro something to build. or break. either works. he's just very angry.]

[ishere]

[ yeowch. yes, actually, yes he can. tadashi will just sort of fall silent until they're out of the shuttle, because it's his plan to just toss hiro over his shoulder when they're actually back on their feet. ]

[hiro's plan is to go find something to build, so after tadashi gets out, he's trying to climb out too.]
